THE Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and the South-Asian Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) have signed an MoU to aid the development of small enterprises in North-East India.

The MoU was signed in Washington by the SIDBI Chairman, Mr P. B. Nimbalkar, and the Director, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, International Finance Corporation, Mr Harold Rosen.

Mr Nimbalkar said that SIDBI was committed to developing a strong and vibrant small industries sector and was continuously re-orienting its policies to maintain the smooth flow of credit to the SSI sector besides providing developmental support services.

As part of the agreement, SIDBI and SEDF will identify sectors with potential for growth in the North-East and initiate techno-economic feasibility reports with the help of international consultants.
