Indus Expo to focus on SMEs

HYDERABAD, Oct. 4

INDUS Expo-2002, a focussed exhibition for the small and medium scale industries would be held in Hyderabad during December 6-8. A range of products and technologies developed by Indian companies are to be displayed.

The exhibition to be jointly organised by the Industrial Products Finder (IPF) and the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) would also have a buyer-seller meet, which would facilitate networking between companies, according to Mr C.V. Subba Rao, CEO of IPF.

The organisers are trying to rope in public sector undertakings such as the BHEL, ECIL, HMT, NMDC and major establishments such as Indian Railways, APSRTC, Bharat Dynamics and Mahindra & Mahindra and a large number of private enterprises and sellers from the small scale sector and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Indus Expo 2002 would cater to the needs of various industrial sectors and entrepreneurs by providing technology search and sourcing, technology marketing and promotion, technical consultancy services etc. he said.

The expo would also have a technology transfer platform named Tech. Podium with the active collaboration of the Andhra Pradesh Technical Consulting Organisation (APITCO).

The Department of Industries, Andhra Pradesh, has identified Indus Expo as a forum for its promotional activity for the SSIs, SMEs and the various schemes and action plans it has and agreed to be one of the main sponsors.
