Rubber dormant

Our Correspondent

RUBBER prices continued to remain dormant on reports of enhanced inflow to the market. Supply has been regularised mainly due to the release of rubber held by the growers awaiting upswings in the market.

The international situation is deteriorating steadily with prices touching Rs 40.35 on Thursday. The prices in the domestic market have also stagnated.

Buying by tyre companies was moderate at the rate of Rs 36.75, which is 25 paise less than the ruling price per kg. The offtake by non-tyre sector has slightly come down due to the pooja holidays next week.

Meanwhile, reports from Kozhikode confirmed the temporary suspension of tapping in the estates due to incessant rains during the last couple of days.

Sheet rubber RSS-4 was ruling at Rs 37 while RSS-5 firmed up to Rs 35.50 from Rs 35.25. Block rubber ISNR-20 stayed at Rs 35.50. Both latex 60 per cent and ungraded rubber continued unchanged at Rs 28.50 and Rs 34 respectively.
