Vizag SSI survey under way

VISAKHAPATNAM, Nov. 14

A SURVEY of the small scale units in Visakhapatnam district has been undertaken by the Visakhapatnam District Industries Centre (DIC) as part of the nationwide third census of registered and unregistered units in all States.

A DIC press release said the third census would for the first time cover unregistered units through sample survey besides undertaking complete enumeration of registered units.

The objective of the census is to update the data of registered SSI units for understanding structural changes in the SSI sector for effective policy-making, for compilation of index of industrial production of SSI sector, analysing the reasons for sickness by identifying the sick and incipient units and creating a database for unregistered sector.

The release said the census in Visakhapatnam district would cover 8,212 registered units besides the unregistered units in 40 villages and 22 urban locks.
