RPG Cellular Services Ltd and ICICI Bank Ltd together launched a service, which will enable the `Wings' prepaid subscribers to recharge their cards at bank's ATMs across the city.

According to Mr O.P. Srivastava, General Manager, ICICI Bank, the facility will be available at all the 85 ATMs of the bank in the city. The network will be further advanced to 100 ATMs by March 2003. The prepaid cards can also be recharged at ICICI Bank's 28 branches and extension counters.

He said that from bank's experience Chennai had the highest number of transactions through ATMs. While the all India average was around 250 transactions per day per ATM at Chennai it was 315.

Though RPG is the first cellular company with which ICICI Bank has tied up with this facility, it is open to collaborating with the other operators also, he said.

Similar facilities have been launched by ICICI Bank in Delhi and Mumbai, Mr Srivastava added. The facility will be launched at Kolkata soon.

Mr Arun Sikka, Vice President (Sales and Marketing) at RPG Cellular, said that the ICICI Bank ATMs will add to the 3,500 sales outlets that the cellular company has at Chennai.

"Very soon we hope to cross the one lakh mark in prepaid subscribers", he said.
