Rubber Rubber prices improve Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM, Nov. 29 RUBBER prices spurted again after being stagnant to reach Rs 37.50. The prices of all the grades improved suddenly on reports of better response from buyers on Friday. Meanwhile, arrivals also improved as widespread tapping is on in almost all the estates in the State. Buyers who stayed away on Thursday following better arrivals appeared again with specific procurement plans. Covering agents also started procuring to honour the commitments to tyre companies strictly adhering to their schedule of supply. Buyers are also there for major varieties including ungraded and RSS-5 grades. The general trend now visibly favours an increase in tune with the International price which firms up every day to reach Rs 40.10 on Friday. The season has now begun when there will be more rubber in godowns. To avoid excess availability of rubber in the market, dealers even advocate regularising the supply and limiting the release evenly. Sheet RSS-4 was traded at Rs 37.50 a kg from Rs 37 and ungraded rubber at Rs 35.50 from Rs 35 on the previous day. Block rubber ISNR-20 touched Rs 35.50 from Rs 34.50 while RSS-5 improved to Rs 36.25 from Rs 35.75. Latex 60 per cent firmed up to Rs 29.25 from Rs 29.
