Zensar upbeat on BPO revenue in second year

Vishwanath Kulkarni

BANGALORE, Dec. 17

ZENSAR Technologies, the RPG group's technology arm, expects a revenue of Rs 15 crore from its business processing outsourcing (BPO) outfit in the second year of operations, said the company's Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Ganesh Natarajan.

Zensar recently announced its intention to pick up a 50 per cent stake in the Bangalore-based Suntech Data Systems Pvt Ltd. Suntech Data Systems is promoted by Mr Lalit Ahuja, formerly with Star TV and LG Soft.

Suntech is in operation for the last six months and its revenues for the first year have not been taken into consideration. The company, which is engaged in outsourcing services relating to contact centre management, business process outsourcing and IT infrastructure management, has a 250 seat call centre in Bangalore and mainly offers both voice and Web-based services. The company has some 6-8 clients.

Mr Natarajan said both Zensar and Suntech would jointly market the BPO services. Zensar would also be bundling the BPO services with its other offerings for its customers. However, Mr Natarajan declined to comment on the acquisition cost.

Earlier, the company had earmarked Rs 50 crore for new ventures and acquisitions and was said to be planning to invest between $4 million to $8 million for its BPO foray.

The BPO foray will add a new line of practice to the Zensar's offerings of consulting, package implementation, customised solutions and application management.

The company recently entered the Chinese market by setting up a 50:50 joint venture with the Hong Kong-based Asia Logistics Technologies (ALT), which specialises in providing supply chain management and logistics technologies solutions and services.
