GANJAM Nagappa & Son, one of Bangalore's jewellery houses, has launched a high profile jewellery store at The Leela Galleria in the city.

Called `Ganjam By Design,' this collection is aimed at the high-profile buyer.

According to Mr Umesh Ganjam, Joint Managing Director, Ganjam Nagappa & Son, "This is for a consumer who values a piece for jewellery, not for its weight, but for its aesthetics.''

Also present at the launch was Japan's well-known jewellery designer, Kazuo Ogawa, who presented an exclusive line of platinum jewellery at the store. The Kazuo Ogawa Line is notable for its innovative combination of unusual materials, textures and craftsmanship.

Gems like red and black onyx and organic material like mother of pearl have been used in some of the designs. Currently the signature collection offers six lines of jewellery, including one for men. Some of the collections have one-of-a-kind pieces.

The jewellery lines are: Ganjam Heritage Design that has used Burmese ruby, mines which are now extinct. The Ganjam Class Line is inspired by the traditional Indian ikkat weave. The Ganjam Pallette Line uses platinum with onyx, perdots, blue topaz and diamonds. The Ganjam World Line is influenced by the Italian tradition. And then there's the Ganjam Men's Line and the Kazuo Ogawa Line.

Describing the growth of the Ganjam brand, Mr Umesh said "Ganjam By Design is a logical progression of how the Ganjam brand has evolved. This venture reiterates our pioneering initiatives in retailing jewellery and in bringing creative expression to hi-end jewellery.''
