Plan for SSI showrooms in Mumbai, Delhi

NEW DELHI, Feb. 6

IN an effort to promote the small-scale industry in the north-eastern part of the country, the Department of Small Scale Industry plans to open two showrooms in Delhi and Mumbai to exhibit the diverse range of products made by the sector.

The new Minister for Small-Scale Industries and Department of Development of North-Eastern Region, Dr C.P. Thakur, said that he would also be meeting the Ministers of External Affairs and Commerce to look at the option of starting border trade with Myanmar.

Further, the Cabinet Secretary is to hold a meeting to review the Rs 6,608-crore hydel project in the North-East.
