VISAKHAPATNAM: The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, the steel plant here, has performed well on all fronts, states a press release issued by the plant.

The plant surpassed rated capacities in all the production areas during the first ten months of the current financial year and is presently running at 3.9 million tonnes of hot metal capacity (116 per cent capacity utilisation) against the rated capacity of 3.4 million tonnes. The VSP produced 3.29 million tonnes of hot metal, 2.80 million tonnes of liquid steel and 2.52 million tonnes of saleable steel during the period.

The sales turnover during the period was Rs 3,850 crore, registering a growth of 23 per cent. The domestic sales improved by 20 per cent and the exports by 55 per cent.
