GETIT Infomediary Ltd, the company that brings out the Yellow Pages telephone directory, is in talks with private telecom operators to bring out separate directories, according to Mr Siddharth Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Getit Infomediary Ltd.

He said that BSNL did not want to include the numbers of private operators in the existing directory.

As a part of its brand building and market expansion programme, Getit recently undertook a programme for school children in Chennai. This programme aimed at getting younger people to use information effectively in their lives. Around 1700 school children from 35 leading schools in Chennai participated in the project.

The company plans to take this programme to other centres and also to make it an annual event.

Mr Gupta said that the company recently conducted a brand survey in Chennai and Bangalore. The survey showed that the Yellow Pages were used across age groups, mainly in the upper income groups and across categories. The brand recall was almost 86 per cent.

The survey was also conducted to get a feel of the new feature in the recent Getit B2B and B2C Yellows Pages such as cross referencing, Go-zone locater, trust me service. The top five categories that used Getit YP in this section were private hospitals, courier service, travel bureau, educations institutions and real estate.

Doctors were ranked as the most preferred service while consumer feedback indicated that they thought that service providers such as plumbers, electricians needed better representation .Getit, a part of the Tej Bandhu Group, brings out 4.5 million-directory copies contribution to approximately 80 per cent of all official telephone directories in India.
