Singapore co sets up arm

BANGALORE, Feb. 21

FUTURE TechnoDesign (FTD) group of Singapore, today set up operations of its subsidiary SoCrates Software in Bangalore with an investment of $ 5 million. SoCrates, which develops embedded software for consumer electronics majors will develop software components, SoC (system on chip) solutions out of Bangalore.

SoCrates focuses on developing reusable Internet Protocol for digital consumer and personal communication product manufacturers. The company is also looking at next generation integrated circuit solutions for devices such as digital cameras, plasma TVs, information appliances, digital camcorders and so on.

Toshiba of Japan is the company's largest customer.
