Alliances & Joint Ventures D-Link ties up with Corning Our Bureau
MUMBAI: D-Link India Ltd on Friday announced that it had entered into a strategic agreement with Corning Inc, global supplier of optical fibre, for the supply of Corning's InfiniCor (R) and SMF-28 (R) fibres to D-Link through 2005. D-Link will use cable containing Corning optical fibre as part of its Open-Link Connect structured cabling products. "Earlier we sourced optical fibre from three vendors including Corning. But this is an exclusive tie-up with Corning, one that will assure our customers that we are using the highest quality products as we will be using the `Plus Corning Optical Fibre' logo," said Mr K.R. Naik, CMD, D-Link India Ltd. According to Mr Naik, D-Link's structured cabling division clocked revenues of Rs 25-30 crore last year of which fibre amounted to Rs 5 to 6 crore. "We expect this business grow significantly in the coming months. However, we will have clear picture of the growth rates only after six months or so," Mr Naik said.
