Oracle offers Java edition server

HYDERABAD, April 2

ORACLE Corporation, the global leader in enterprise software, has announced the launch of Oracle 9i Application Server Java edition, thereby broadening the corporation's infrastructure spectrum to address new customers, partners and independent software vendors.

This new application server offers all the technology needed for companies to quickly develop and deploy Java applications and Web services. In an Oracle communique, the corporation maintained that companies could now purchase an integrated Java software package, that includes both an application server and an integrated development environment and offerscomplete development and deployment capabilities for transactional businesses applications, e-services, dynamic sites and e-commerce storefronts.

The Oracle 9i Application Server Java edition will help Oracle and its strong reseller community seed the lucrative small and medium-sized business markets, while also addressing the needs of large enterprise companies, according to Mr Charles Rozwat, Executive Vice-President, Oracle 9i Server Technologies.

Oracle 9i Java edition server was a full-fledged, enterprise class software package, unlike the low-priced entry-level versions available in the market, Mr Rozwat said.
