TN chamber hails Exim policy

Our Correspondent

MADURAI, April 2

THE Exim Policy for 2003-04 is a proactive one with many features to accelerate export efforts, according to The Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In a statement here, Mr S. Rethinavelu, President of the Chamber, has said that the new scheme for the promotion of export of services, would be of immense benefit.

The policy to encourage corporate sector with proven credentials to sponsor Agri Export Zones underlines the importance of agriculture and allied products as an area of core competence.

Further, removal of five items including paddy from the restricted list of exports is bound to spur the overall export earnings and help the country to attain one per cent share of the world export.

This would also help the paddy cultivators to get remunerative prices. The continuation of various duty neutralisation schemes will ensure stability in the policy, which is much sought after by the exporting community, he said.
