Hyundai sells more in March

CHENNAI, April 2

HYUNDAI Motor India Ltd sold 1,12,502 units for the year ending March 31 2003, a 20.6 per cent growth over the 93,250 units it sold in the previous financial year. In March, the company sold 12,911 units.

According to a company press release, sales of its popular small car, Santro, crossed 10,000 units in March to end the year with sales of 89,965 units, while the company sold 2,600 units of the Accent ending the year with 21,044 units. Sonata sales closed at 1,493 units.

Continuing its thrust on exports, the company exported 8,966 cars, a 65 per cent growth over the previous year, according to the release.

The release quoted the Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India, Mr J.I. Kim, as attributing the performance to the twin goals of setting benchmarks in product engineering and ownership experience.
