Shanta Kumar puts in papers

NEW DELHI, April 6

THE Union Minister for Rural Development, Mr Shanta Kumar, on Sunday submitted his resignation from the Vajpayee Government, sources said here.

The Urban Development Minister, Mr Anant Kumar, is likely to be given additional charge of the Rural Development Ministry.

Mr Shanta Kumar, who sent in his resignation to the Prime Minister, Mr A.B. Vajpayee, did not give any reasons for the resignation.

According to the sources, Mr Kumar met Mr Vajpayee this evening and submitted his resignation.
