THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Water level in major reservoirs in the State declined when compared with the corresponding levels recorded during the last week, according to a spokesman of the Central Water Commission.

Giving the latest updated storage position on April 23, the spokesman said that in the Kallada reservoir, the level declined to 322.76 ft from 324.54 ft recorded a week earlier. In Idukki, the largest among them all and home to generation of most of the State's electricity, the level looked down to 2304.69 ft from 2305.96 ft and at Idamalayar, the level declined to 410.24 ft from the last week's 414.80 ft.

As for the year-on-year readings, Kallada alone continued to record an improvement over the last year's level — a raise by 14.85 ft. In all the others, the level continued with their declining trend, the spokesman added.
