MANGALORE, April 28

THE Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr S.M. Krishna, inaugurated a new power transmission network of 220-110 kV multi-circuit lines from Khemar to Guruvayanakere in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday.

The network, said to be the first of its kind in the State, has been laid out at a cost of Rs. 2,689 lakh covering a distance of 48.521 km.

The new transmission network is expected to result in a reduction in energy losses to the tune of 26.49 million units per annum and improve the overall power situation in the district. It is also expected to facilitate 3,650 KVA power supply to the Mangalore-Bangalore Petronet pipeline at Neria apart from catering to the future `load growth' in the district.

The line work for the project was undertaken by L&T while the station work was done by ABB Ltd.
