Beware of SARS ... Be aware of masks!

A surgical instruments shop stocking up SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) masks in Chennai. Even though no suspected case of SARS has been reported in Chennai, imported and local masks are available in the market. One such shop sold more than 75 masks in two days. An imported mask costs above Rs 350 and local ones cost between Rs 8 and 25.Tamil Nadu Health Department proposes to set up a 24-hour helpline for providing information on the disease and direct suspected patients for testing and treatment.
