Bangalore to have Metro Cash and Carry centres

Our Bureau

BANGALORE, May 7

BANGALORE will soon have two Metro Cash and Carry distribution centres.

The new centres, to be set up in Yeshwantpur and Kanakapura, will be built on seven acres of land with a covered space of over a lakh sq ft.

Metro Cash and Carry International is the flagship company of the US-based Metro Group. The concept of this model is to have a `business to business' operation.

The MCC distribution centre provides a platform for manufacturers, producers and farmers to increase the efficiency of their supply chain by creating a single point of sales and purchase.

Business customers can come to MCC distribution centres, buy what they need, pay cash and take their goods according to their requirement. There is no time lag between customer requirements and a delivery by wholesalers.

Each centre, built with an investment of Rs 75 crore will have the required infrastructure like nine truck unloading bays, temperature controlled receiving, storage and selling facilities. They will also have parking space for over 250 cars and vans and 350 two-wheelers.

The centres are likely to be ready by November 2003.
