Spl ayurveda package from Le Meridien

KOCHI, May 27

TIMED with the outbreak of the monsoon over Kerala, the Le Meridien, Kochi, has launched a special ayurveda package, with the well-to-do West Asian tourists in mind.

The package was launched at the Arabian Travel Mart in Dubai, which was attended by tourism authorities from all parts of the globe, sources in the hotel chain said.

"The underlying fact is that ayurvedic treatment is most effective during the monsoon period when the pores of the body open up the maximum, therefore making it more receptive to herbal oils and ayurvedic medicines," Mr Ajay Sharma, Director, Business Development, Le Meridien, who has just returned after attending the travel mart said.

The group was not just endorsing the unique ayurveda rejuvenation therapy, but extended the campaign to include Kerala as one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world. The slogan is: Save a dollar a day and see Kerala. "Elements is a six night/seven day tour to experience the magic of Kerala for just $365 — which translates into saving a dollar a day," Mr Sharma said. Selling Kerala experience as a composite whole is one of the major objectives of the campaign.

The ayurveda packages unveiled at the travel mart included the stress buster package and the slimming package. The stress buster package is a rejuvenation therapy where the body is rejuvenated through a course of massages and herbal oils. This has also proved to be a good remedy to slow down the aging process.

With the Iraq war over, the mood in the tourism industry is upbeat and several hotel chains are gearing to meet the monsoon challenges. Unlike in the earlier times, this monsoon the industry hopes to capitalise on a surge in arrivals from West Asia as well as from the domestic segment.

Talks are also in progress with various airlines from the Gulf to bring down the air rates between the Gulf and Kerala, and thus make the campaign more effective and successful.
