BANGALORE, June 7 3M India Ltd on Saturday launched a car detailing service, a car care solution for the car owners. The Managing Director, Mr Lee M. Kennedy, told presspersons that the car detailing service was a total solutions provider that helped owners to maintain their cars in good health. "Proper maintenance of a car is imperative to prolong its life, sustained performance and resale value over a period of time," Mr Kennedy said. He said the service offered exterior treatments, interior treatments, anti-corrosion treatments and engine rejuvenation. These packages could be used for cars that were over three months old and would be available at all car dealerships. The cost of the package ranged between Rs 400 and Rs 3,000, he added. Leading car designer, Mr Dilip Chabbria, said that car owners in India were increasingly becoming conscious about car care. "The new product launched by 3M has come at an appropriate time," he said. 3M India test marketed the products in Bangalore to develop the package and to identify the market potential. The study found that the car care industry in India was in a highly fragmented state. There were a number of individuals and companies offering car care treatments in various forms but not as a total solution provider. But they did not have adequate infrastructure to handle the high-end treatments that were critical, Mr Kennedy said. 3M India is the first organised player in this segment offering a wide range of treatment. The company is a $16-billion giant that makes over 50,000 innovative products.
