MJF Group `reformulating' alliance with Amalgamation

P.T. Jyothi Datta

NEW DELHI, June 7

THE MJF Group is set to "reformulate" its joint-venture with the Tamil Nadu-based Amalgamation Group, Mr Malik Fernando, Director, MJF Group told Business Line.

The company, Stanes MJF Teas Ltd, was formed about four years ago to service the demand for medium quality CTC teas from the former Soviet Union, he said.

"But with the demand from the Soviet market being reduced, the alliance will be reformulated to look at other markets. While there are no plans as yet, the alliance could explore creating a different brand to take Indian branded tea into the global market," he said.

The partnership was forged with the Amalgamation Group in 2000 and the production unit, comprising modern tea blending, packaging and teabag production facilities, is based in Coimbatore.
