Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, June 13

GALILEO India has announced the launch of e-ticketing in the country.

Addressing a press conference, the General Manager, Galileo India, Ms Seema Luthra, said the company has successfully completed pilot testing and would soon be launching the service with leading airlines.

"The introduction of e-ticketing will result in major cost savings for the airlines. The cost of the ticket for the airline is likely to come down from around $7-$8 at present to less than $1.50 per ticket. Besides, it also means less problems for the customers," Ms Luthra said.

The airlines that are likely to start this service with Galileo India in the near future include British Airways, Air France, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and KLM. Besides, Galileo is already in talks with Jet Airways to introduce e-tickets.
