New Web site on Kerala tourism

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, June 20

ETHNIC Tourism, a Thiruvananthapuram-based company that operates in the tourism domain, has launched a new Web site on Kerala. Though operational for the last few weeks, the site www.ethnictourism.com, was formally inaugurated today by Mr K.V. Thomas, Minister for Tourism and Fisheries.

The new Web site is positioned as one that presents the `ethnic and finer aspects' of Kerala, says Mr M.A. Jaleel, the company's CEO.

While the site has information on various aspects of Kerala, it focuses on Kerala's traditional knowledge base in areas such as the arts and astrology, he adds.

An important feature of the site is the section devoted to Kerala's mural paintings, he points out.

Besides detailed information on the technical aspects of this art form, the site also offers visitors an opportunity to learn mural painting from a well-known exponent of the art, says Mr Jaleel.

Similarly, the site also has detailed information on areas such as woodcarving, kathakali and vaastu. Besides, it also organises training sessions in these disciplines for those who are interested.

Ayurveda is another theme that is covered in great detail on the site. In addition to information on highly specialised branches of the discipline, the Web site also offers online consultations with several ayurvedic physicians, says Mr Jaleel.
