Hudco sanctions Rs 516.35 cr for N-E States

NEW DELHI, June 20
HOUSING and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) has sanctioned loans to the tune of Rs 516.35 crore for different infrastructure and housing schemes in the north-eastern States with Assam cornering the bulk of the funding.
During the financial year 2002-03, about nine per cent of the total disbursements made by Hudco went to the north-eastern States, an official press release said here.
Of the total funding to north-eastern States, as much as Rs 443.2 crore went for urban infrastructure schemes, it said.
Assam got Rs 362.7 crore loan that were sanctioned mainly for social infrastructure, transport and power sector projects. The Rs 79-crore sanctioned for Meghalaya were for construction of roads, bridges and power sector schemes.
For Nagaland, Hudco had sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore for building roads and bridges, while Rs 73.15 crore was sanctioned for 25 housing schemes in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura, the release said.
