Citrix MetaFrame for Special Olympics

L.N. Revathy

COIMBATORE, July 3

ACCESS Infrastructure solutions provider - Citrix Systems Inc, has deployed the Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server to provide on-demand access to a variety of applications at the 170 locations across Ireland, where the prestigious sporting event - 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games is being held.

The applications encompass managing secure medical information about Special Olympics athletes and the games management system.

Medical information is particularly sensitive in any sporting event. Citrix access infrastructure is being used to deploy the HealthOne patient record system over the Internet to provide doctors with instant access to detailed medical information about the athletes, many of who have specific and individual medical requirements.

The Games Management System application would handle inventory and logistics information including details about catering suppliers and the 30,000 volunteers who make the event run smoothly.

"We are extremely happy not only with the functionality that the Citrix access infrastructure solution offers our highly dispersed user community, but also with the level of security that Citrix technology provides to the information contained within the system," said Mr Dan Hughes, Network Manager at the Special Olympics.
