Standards & Benchmarks Kolkata firm seeks CIFT certification Our Bureau
KOCHI, July 6 TQSI, a Kolkata-based agency involved in implementing quality and food safety management systems in the agri/food sector, has signed an MoU with the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) under the ICAR for conducting verification of the HACCP system. CIFT, which has pioneered the introduction of HACCP points in food safety, will test and certify that the quality of the food products meets the international standards based on which the agency would award a `safe to serve' certification to the producer. The agency has also launched an international food safety and quality `SAFETOSERVE' logo in Kerala. It is a quality code designed for agri/food supply chain, Mr Suresh Nair of TQS said. The logo can be displayed on the packaging and advertisement materials, thus exhibiting the ability to produce safe, clean food of the highest quality under a HACCP system verified by an internationally recognised third party, he added. Adoption of `SAFETOSERVE' certification can help companies in the food processing and allied sectors to enhance competitiveness and increase brand equity by demonstrating their commitment to food safety and quality.
