HLL's Garden Reach unit lockout challenged

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata , July 17

HINDUSTAN Lever Sramik Karmachari Congress filed a writ petition in Calcutta High Court challenging the lockout at its Garden Reach unit, Kolkata.

The union asked for the court's order directing the State Government to declare the lockout illegal. In the writ petition, it was stated that the lockout order had been declared in violation of the I.D. Act 1947. The lockout affected the interests of the employees, the union contended.

The application was moved in the Calcutta High Court before Mr Justice Pranab Kumar Chattapadhya. The court directed the parties to file affidavits and the matter will be heard on July 28.
