Wasteful rituals

This is with reference to "Wasteful rituals" (Business Line, July 16). With the passing of the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Bill, the Centre is under a statutory obligation to ensure reduction in the fiscal deficit in a time bound manner.

The major cause of fiscal deficit and an area of concern to all is the expenditure of government establishment. Meetings and travels should be curtailed to the minimum and the government should not be a burden to the people.
