Canara kicks off Net, mobile banking

CANARA Bank kicked off its Internet and mobile banking (IMB) services here today in bid to wrest a slot in the growing technology banking segment.

The service was inaugurated by the bank's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr R V Shastri, who identified the bank's growth thrust to be driven by information technology. The IMB service would initially be available in the 300 branches across six cities of the country, which include Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.

The services would be offered to both retail and corporate segments. These would include deposit and loan account viewing, request for issue of chequebooks and a host of other facilities for corporate administration. In mobile banking, it would offer SMS and WAP- based services pertaining to balance enquiry and other retail driven services.
