Kochi , July 28

IN a bid to consolidate its market share and improve its export performance, the Rs 630-crore QRG group is expanding its product range in the home electric and accessory segment.

The Delhi-based group, which has a significant presence in electrical switches, wires, electrical meters and circuit breaker segment, will launch fans and CF lamps into the market under the established brand name `Havell's'. Havell's accounts for almost half the total turnover of the company.

Mr Jyothish Kumar, General Manager, told presspersons here that the company has unveiled the T-series fan factory, "one of the most modern units in the country". It also plans to roll out three to four lakh fans in the first year, and the capacity will be stepped up in the following years.

A whole range of new fan products such as exhaust, table and pedestal fans will be launched soon. The company will also be entering the CFL market with a capacity to produce seven million units by October this year.

It is also in the process of consolidating its presence in various segments of the electrical products market and will be leveraging on volumes to command economies of scale. This will build up its capability to compete in the international markets. "The difference between the international prices and Indian prices will not persist for long and the company is building up to take on the international competition", he pointed out.
