It pays to get quality certification

Hyderabad , Aug. 1

THE Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday said that as per the State ICT policy, the Government will reimburse up to 20 per cent of the costs incurred by IT companies on securing quality certification of SEI CMM Level 2 and above.

Addressing the Asia SEPG Conference here, Mr Naidu said this move is part of the ICT policy of the State Government that has recognised the need to promote quality consciousness among IT companies. ``I would like the SEPG to chart out a time-bound plan of action to introduce quality consciousness and awareness in IT industry. The plan of action should specifically identify the role that industry, academic institutions and Government should play in this regard.'' While highlighting the strides made by the IT sector in the State and particularly the IT ES space, Mr Naidu said the Government was keen to expand the scope of the eSeva citizen services centres. From about a million transactions a month in the twin cities now, we plan to take this to about 10 million transactions a month by the end of the year.

This increase in overall transactions through these eSeva centres would be possible once we reach out these centres to 116 municipalities before the end of the year.

These centres along with online filing facility will enable citizens to pay bills from anywhere while also accessing information. These eSeva citizen centres offer about 48 services and these will be expanded to 229 centres across the State.
