Marketing Research `Digital cameras, DVDs popular buys' Rukmini Priyadarshini
Bangalore , Aug. 8 SALES of DVD players and digital cameras leapt in 2002 and more consumers plan to buy these devices as well as PCs and mobile phones in the next year, according to a Forrester survey. DVD players and digital cameras will double their penetration in the next four years, said the study of over 61,000 American and Canadian households about their technology ownership, attitudes, and behaviours. Broadband reached 16 million households in 2002, and three out of four online households say they are interested in signing up, according to Forrester. While e-mail is still the most popular online activity, sending or receiving photos via e-mail is second, followed by playing games alone. About 60 per cent of online users say they do these activities. A startling fact to emerge from the survey is that consumers spend less time online now than they did two years ago. The study found that the average Internet user now spends 8.4 hours online per week versus 9.5 hours per week two years ago.
