Software Logistics - Information Technology Satyam to implement SCM solution for CertainTeed Our Bureau
Chennai , Aug. 8 THE US-based CertainTeed Corporation, a subsidiary of the Paris-based Saint-Gobain Group, has selected Satyam Computer Services Ltd is to implement its supply chain management (SCM) solution. Satyam would have the end-to-end responsibility to implement SAP APO (advance planning optimisation) as the SCM solution for the insulation division of CetainTeed. Once implemented, the SCM solution would provide the demand forecast of inventory required by CertainTeed, said a senior Satyam official. Talking to reporters here, Mr Subu D. Subramanian, Director and Senior Vice-President, Satyam Computers, said the company expected cumulative revenues of about $15 million from the client, and the project would be implemented in nine months. The project would be done on a fixed cost price, and Satyam needed to do the project within the timeframe, he said. With revenues of $2.5 billion in 2002, CertainTeed manufactures building materials including roofing, siding insulation, windows and patio doors. According to Mr Subramanian, once the SCM solution was implemented, it would benefit the client through reduction of cost. Satyam would also collaborate with CertainTeed's business group to ensure that the business value of the project was successfully realised, he said. About 30 Satyam professionals would be working on the CertainTeed project. Further, the company was contemplating to do 40-50 per cent of the project offshore, he said.
