Reclaimed beauty

A. Roy Chowdhury

The above picture taken eight years ago shows the Yousufguda Chevuru (lake), which was then the dump yard of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. Now it has been transformed into a beautiful park (right). To be inaugurated soon, the park is named after the former Vice-President, Mr Krishan Kant. Yousufguda Chevuru was an irrigation tank before becoming the dump yard. Unable to bear the stench and filth, many people had left the area.
