Keltron turns 30

THE public sector Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its establishment on August 30.

On the occasion, the company will honour its founder chairman and managing director, Mr K.P.P. Nambiar, according to a statement from Keltron.

Keltron, during its initial 15 years, had grown into a multi-product and multi-unit conglomerate, generating employment to more than 10,000 both directly and indirectly. All the production units of the company were set up in rural areas with a vision to uplift the villages, says the statement.

Today, Keltron has production infrastructure totalling more than five lakh sq.ft. of built-up area covering four complexes and six subsidiaries. The company is also having nine branch offices at Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram.

During the last 30 years, Keltron with an investment of Rs 135 crore has generated cumulative turnover of Rs 2,000 crore and contributed Rs 350 crore to the exchequer by way of duties and levies.

Of late, the company is focusing on defence/space-related products, systems and assemblies, information technology, industrial electronics, traffic management systems and identity cards, adds the statement.
