Corporate Disputes GlaxoSmithKline sues Dr Reddy's on Ondansetron Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug. 28 GLAXOSMITHKLINE Plc has filed a lawsuit against Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd alleging patent infringement by the latter pertaining to one of the drugs of the former. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the district of New Jersey. The lawsuit was in reaction to the filing of Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) by Dr Reddy's with the United States Food and Drug Administration for Ondansetron Orally Disintegrating Tablets (ODT), equivalent to 4 mg and 8 mg, with a Paragraph-IV certification on all Orange Book patents. Ondansetron ODT is the generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's product Zofran ODT and is indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with certain cancer therapies, Dr Reddy's said in a communiqué hosted on the news desk of its Website on Thursday. Dr Reddy's said it had notified GlaxoSmithKline Plc on the ANDA filing, upon which the latter filed a lawsuit alleging patent infringement. The drug delivery system for the Ondansetron ODT ANDA was developed in-house, Dr Reddy's has claimed.
