Policy Industry & Economy - Radio/TV Star News gets one month to `become Indian' Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 28 STAR News has been given a month's time to restructure its company after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today formally announced the revised guidelines for foreign news channels wishing to uplink from India. Star News would have to offer 51 per cent equity to a dominant Indian partner by September 28, after the Government included additional safeguards to ensure that editorial and management control remains in the hands of Indians. The insistence on a dominant Indian partner is on the lines of the norms for FDI in the print sector.
