e.Star plans acquisition

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: E.STAR Infotech has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it is planning to acquire a company to set up a marketing base for its software products in Singapore.

Mr Mahesh Thanvi, Managing Director, told Business Line that e.Star was in talks with a Singapore-based company. However, he did not name the company or the acquisition cost. The deal, he said, was likely to be finalised soon.

e.Star is also planning to set up BPO operations in Maharashtra. According to Mr Thanvi, the company expects to recruit 300 people for this venture, which would specialise in cheque processing for banks. Operations were likely to commence by the year-end, he said.

The company has de-listed its equity shares from both the Ahmedabad and Hyderabad stock exchanges, he added.
