Touchtel to offer railway info

Our Bureau

CHENNAI: Touchtel, the fixed line services of the Bharti group, has launched a railway enquiry system in association with Southern Railway and Lattice Bridge Infotech. This interactive voice response service, accessible by dialing 133, enables customers to get information about the status on departure and arrival of trains, according to a Touchtel press release.

The system uses `speech recognition' developed by Philips Speech Processing (PSP), now part of ScanSoft Inc, US, which will recognise the voice of the caller and provide information accordingly, the release says.

Lattice Bridge Infotech has developed the Indian English language modeling and Tamil adaptation of PSP technology and is available to the Chennai customers only.
