The Mobile Mantra application is also capable of fetching vital information from school through a simple SMS.

New Delhi , Sept. 2

THE school bus is delayed, but parents need not worry, they'll all receive the information on their mobile telephones via SMS. You've forgotten to pay the fee by due date, a SMS will remind you to do so. Your erring teenager is not attending coaching classes, the institution can let the cat out of the bag, courtesy SMS.

Here's a new computer-to-mobile application that helps academic institutions keep in touch with parents/guardians in the mutual interest of the students.

Having recently been introduced in the north Indian market, the Mobile Mantra application has been specially designed for schools, colleges, coaching outfits and higher learning institutions.

It is being promoted by SMS solutions company, Dharohar Info Com Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Dharohar Info Tech AG (DIT), a Swiss company headquartered in Solothurn, Switzerland. The Indian arm is its offshore software development centre that provides products and solutions for the mobile messaging sector.

"Mobile Mantra's latest application for academic institutions can be helpful for both the organisation and the parents,'' said a company official, as he listed the major benefits it offers to both parties. The Mobile Mantra application is also capable of fetching vital information from school through a simple SMS. Even if the mobile is switched off, the message can be delivered when it is switched on again.

While some educational outfits are already using the application, the company is in talks with a few business schools and some large academic institutions.
