New Delhi , Sept. 6

THE Indian `package' printing and production industry is set to become the outsourcing hub for global packaging requirements, with industry watchers forecasting its growth to 22 million tonnes by 2005 from the present figure of 9.5 million tonnes.

According to Mr P.V. Narayanan, Professor & Director, SIES School of Packaging, "India will penetrate the global market to emerge as an outsourcing hub for its packaging requirements in very near future. The global market for packaging is worth $900 billion and India's share is just $3 billion."

He was speaking at the India Converting Show 2003, India Flexo Show 2003, which opened here on Friday and will go on till September 8.
