A DELEGATION from the Singapore-India Chamber of Commerce today held discussions with the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, and his Industry Minister, Mr Nirupam Sen, showing interest in sectors such as infrastructure, housing and retailing.
Mr Sen said that the delegation felt that there was a greater need to market the State abroad. "We have to admit that we have lacuna in this respect," the Minister said adding that the team appeared to be impressed with the facilities available in the state.
Talking to reporters at the State secretariat here, he said that this was the first visit by this delegation to the State. "They had earlier visited Chennai, Hyderabad and New Delhi."
Mr Prasun Mukherjee, an entrepreneur based in Indonesia (who had played a key role in bringing this delegation) said that the team was shown presentations showcasing the State's capabilities in sectors such as food processing, housing and information technology.
The Chief Minister said that while some talks have been held further deliberations were necessary before any thing took concrete shape.
