The Hindu Business Line : Calcutta High Court sets aside WBERC power price hike

A DIVISION bench comprising Justice Banerjea and Justice S.P. Talukdar of the Calcutta High Court today set aside the decision of the West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC), which enhanced by 52 paise the cost of every unit of electricity of West Bengal State Electricity Board, a bulk generator of electricity.

Indian Rayon, Metro Rail, Eastern India Textile Mills Association and the West Bengal Rolling Mils Association moved an appeal before the Division Bench, challenging the unusual hike in price of electricity.

After hearing, the Court set aside the decision of WBERC and directed it to pass a final order of fixation of electricity price after hearing all the parties who are aggrieved over the hike.
