New Delhi , Sept. 9

US-BASED Sequence Design, which supplies electronic design automation (EDA) software to chip designers worldwide, plans to invest $2 million in its India operations over the next 12 months.

This was announced by Mr Vic Kulkarni, President and CEO, Sequence, at the opening of its fifth Centre of Excellence, providing R&D and marketing resources for Sequence worldwide as well as post-sales support for customers in the country and nearby regions. The company will initially hire 30 engineers, with plans to double that number by 2005. Its current customers in the country include Intel, Motorola, Texas Instruments and Cisco, among others.

"The Indian centre can tap talent to fire up our global R&D staff. The country create a 24x7 R&D environment; a team here can take over a problem from colleagues in California, work on it during normal working hours and have the results back by the time folks in Santa Clara start work," he said.
