"We plan to launch 14 new colour TV models, including projection TVs of 44 and 54 inch sizes. Others include two models each of 14, 20 and 29 inch screen sizes, besides six models in the mass 21-inch range", Mr Chandramani said.

New Delhi , Sept. 9

THE oncoming festive season is set to see a lot of activity from the stable of LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd (LGEIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of LG Electronics, South Korea.

Geared to launch 14 new colour television models and an all-new promotional campaign featuring a sports celebrity, the company is expecting the festive season to give the right boost to sales.

Agreeing that the industry has been facing a tough time for the last few months, with a sales average of about five lakh sets per month, Mr Chandramani Singh, National Head - Consumer Electronics, LGEIL, said, "We are expecting the overall industry sales to touch 10 lakh to 12 lakh sets per month beginning October."

Elaborating on the forthcoming launches, he said: "We are planning to launch 14 new colour television models, including projection TVs of 44 and 54 inch sizes. Among the new launches planned for the peak season are two models each of 14, 20 and 29 inch screen sizes, besides six models in the mass 21-inch range."

Meanwhile, the company today unveiled its new range of `display products', in a bid to create an exclusive category of hi-end consumer electronics products including plasma display panels, projection televisions, LCD TVs, projectors, monitors and optical storage devices. "This range of new display products (NDP) are meant to bridge the gap between the existing range of flat TVs and Projection TVs available in the product portfolio of the company," LG officials told Business Line.

The entire new product line is available in the price range of Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.

``With the whole world moving towards digital transmission in which lies the future of the consumer electronics markets, LG took the step to create this segment in the Indian market. We are committed to developing advanced display products and will focus on this category henceforth,'' said Mr Nam K. Woo, President, LGE Digital Display and Media Company.
