Bangalore , Sept. 9

INFOSYS Technologies Ltd has bagged a $50-million (A$75-million) order from Australian telecom group, Telstra Corp.

Sources at Infosys said that the order, to be executed over five years, entails development of IT applications and providing maintenance services to Telstra, in which the Australian Government has 50.1 per cent stake. No other details were available from the company.

As part of the deal, Telstra is expected to pay A$15 million every year to maintain its business systems.

Infosys will be taking over work which was earlier carried out by IBM Global Services Australia, formerly a joint venture between Telstra, IBM and Land Lease. The deal is said to involve a shift of close to 180 jobs from IBM to Infosys.
