Farm credit Nabard sanctions Rs 59 cr Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 59.30 crore from out of its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund IX (RIDF IX) to the State Government for taking up various developmental works. These relate to implementing eight rural drinking water supply projects, completing work on 27 rural roads, constructing 1136 permanent classrooms in primary schools and constructing four boat jetties, an official spokesman said here. The drinking water supply projects to be implemented in five districts - Idukki (1), Wayanad (1), Kannur (3), Ernakulam (2) and Malappuram (1) - by the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) would ensure supplies to an estimated 2.5 lakh people in 13 villages. These projects would add a total road length of 79.28 km in 12 districts. This would provide for improved connectivity to 72 villages and 50 marketing centres. Primary schools in 11 districts would see 1136 permanent classrooms being added to them. The assistance being extended to boat jetty projects would enable the public sector Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) to construct covered jetties at the Kumarakom Tourist Village, Thekkady, Bolghatty Island (Ernakulam) and the Marine Drive (Ernakulam).
